With 4 results in, the big stories are it’s a massive success for the SNP, and the Lib Dems are doing very badly.
Indeed the Lib Dems might lose every single seat they held in the Scottish Parliament — if that happened, could Clegg continue as Lib Dem leader?
For the SNP, they might win an overall majority (who said that was impossible with proportional representation?). Even if they don’t, there will probably be a majority of pro-independence MSPs, since the Greens will probably do well. So we’re looking at a referendum on independence, which the SNP is unlikely to win right now (though they might in 3-4 years’ time).
We don’t have any regional results yet, so we don’t know how well the Pirate Party have done — here’s hoping they beat their best result so far in Scotland (0.65%, won by me in a by-election to Edinburgh council last year).
