Yesterday the RIAA said they hadn’t started legal procedings against anyone for filesharing “for months”:
[RIAA spokeswoman Cara Duckworth] said the RIAA has not instituted a new lawsuit for months.
It turns out this was a lie. A Slashdot reader NewYorkCountryLawyer points out:
Knowing that the RIAA has a problem with telling the truth, I did a little investigating, and found out that the RIAA had, in fact, commenced a wave of lawsuits just last week. Why would anyone believe anything their spokesperson says? This is an organization that has a tendency to mispeak a lot, if you know what I mean, even when under oath.
So why did the RIAA tell such an easily-detectable lie? I suspexct lying has just become habitual for them.
