Stasi-like German authorities raid Pirate Party

The German Pirate Party got hold of a leaked document that detailed how the German government were using trojans to spy on people through their computers. When the Pirate party published the doucment, the Germany government were so incensed that they raided the Pirate Party’s spokesman:

The spokesperson of the German Pirate Party saw his house raided after the party published a leaked document which showed that the government uses a homemade “trojan” to wiretap Skype conversations. In addition, a server from another party member was seized.

The Pirate Party is known for it’s battle against the ever increasing government surveillance on the public. So, when an anonymous whistleblower sent them a internal document which showed that the government went as far as installing trojans on computers, they didn’t hesitate to publish it.

Who said the Gestapo and Stasi were dead? The leaked document is here (in German — unfortunately there’s no English translation as yet).

    Thats class :)

We are what we are, no point in pretending otherwise. I can’t beleive they used a trojan though. That is asking for reprisal.

I guess it just shows the contempt that governments have for their people. Mind you , these days they have alot to be scared of.
