About me
I’m Philip Hunt, a computer programmer living in Edinburgh. I’m a founder member of the Pirate Party UK, and currently its Campaigns Officer and Press Officer.
This is my personal blog; I also blog at the Pirate Party’s blog.
I can be contacted at cabalamat [at] googlemail [dot] com.
This blog used to use the strapline “La liberté consiste à pouvoir faire tout ce qui ne nuit pas à autrui”, which comes from the Declaration of the rights of Man and of the Citizen and is a declaration of my personal philosophy: people should be allowed to do anything they like, as long as they don’t harm others. Among other things I believe in freedom of speech, but that freedom doesn’t include the right to an audience: I have a moderation policy for this blog.
Humour is generally not marked on this blog: if you think I’ve said something stupid or offensive, I may have been joking. Or maybe I’m just an arsehole.

Could you move the postings from your old blog here? (I can still access your old blog through the Internet Archive).

I would like to put the posts from my old blog here. Unfortunately to do this I would first have to store them in a file format that WordPress can upload (my old blog used home-brewed blogging software, so I would have to write conversion software).

Could you give me some details of the WordPress file format? (Is it a species of XML?)
cabalamat said
Yes the WordPress export format is XML. If you would like more details of it, I can email you the export file that this blog produces. (Or you might find it easier to set up your own WordPress blog, export its data and look at that file).
Note that WordPress can import from multiple formats; so an import file doesn’t have to be WordPress format.

Hi,
I just wanted to invite you to participate in a brand new political blogging and social networking tool called http://www.PollBooth.com
The site is currently closed to the general public, only politicians, journalists and bloggers such as yourself will be invited to join for the time being.
If you wish to participate prior to the public launch just add pollbooth.com to your links on your wordpress blog then send an email to request.invite@pollbooth.com including the webaddress of your current blog and if approved I’ll send you an official invitation code allowing you to register on the site.
I hope to hear from you shortly and if not apologies for contacting you.
Regards,
