Pirate Party goes from strength to strength

Posted by cabalamat on 2009-Jun-25

Pirate Party Sweden is on the way up:

And one Swedish opinion poll yesterday shows that the Pirate Party gains another four percent in Sweden. It will now be impossible to create a new government in Sweden without the Pirate Party.

I don’t have any details but I assume the 4% increase is on the 7% they got in the Euro election, in which case they’re on 11%.

And it appears that PP.se might have done even better if it hadn’t been for electoral irregularities.

I suspect this is a poll of “who would you vote for in the next election” (2010 for the Swedish parliament). Under the Swedish PR system if you get 4% of the vote you are guaranteed a seat…

The last poll I saw had Piratpartiet at 3.9%

The article is here (in Swedish, but with charts): http://www.aftonbladet.se/nyheter/analys/lenamellin/article5416116.ab

Basically a newspaper sponsored poll asking – who would you vote for if it was a parliamentary election today. Polling was done between the 8th and 22nd of June. The sample size is over 2000 which is fairly high.
